AMSO brings together mathematicians, statisticians and computational scientists across Nigeria and the West African sub-region — through an annual international conference series, a peer-reviewed journal, and active research collaboration rooted in the Department of Mathematics, University of Lagos.
ICMSO 2023 · “Digitized Economy: Challenges and the Imperatives of Mathematical Tools” · 28 Aug – 2 Sep 2023, University of Lagos
AMSO grew out of the Mathematical Analysis and Optimization Research Group (MANORG) at the University of Lagos, and now works in close partnership with the Mathematical Analysis and Applications Research Group (MAARG) and national and international mathematics institutes.
The Association of Mathematical Sciences and Optimization is the professional body coordinating conferences, membership, publications and outreach across the field.
The Mathematical Analysis and Optimization Research Group and the Mathematical Analysis and Applications Research Group, based in the Department of Mathematics, University of Lagos, drive the research agenda behind AMSO's programmes.
AMSO collaborates with the National Mathematical Centre (Abuja), the Institut de Mathématique et de Sciences Physiques (Benin), and the International Mathematical Union.
Themes drawn from a decade of AMSO/MANORG workshops and conference tracks.
Held annually since the mid-2010s, the conference has grown from a UNILAG-based workshop into an international gathering — hosted with the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja and, most recently, IMSP Benin.
